    Safety & Health Specialist (Corporate) – Atlanta

    This position will support multiple Georgia Power corporate business units.

    Location: Position will be located in Georgia Power's Corporate Office at 241 Ralph McGill Blvd, Atlanta, GA 30308

    No relocation benefits will be provided. Successful candidate must live within a 50 mile commute of the work location OR be willing to quickly relocate within a 50 mile commute at his/her own expense.

    This position requires frequent travel (including overnight) throughout Southern Company's footprint - Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Northwest Florida.

    Job Summary

    ·         Work with management and employees to develop and implement injury avoidance and accident prevention programs that assure compliance with all internal and external safety policies, regulations, and procedures

    ·         Analyze, develop and coordinate training programs assure compliance and improve safety performance

    ·         Support and coordinate of safety initiatives for Southern Company such as Safety Excellence and Southern Lifestyle and Wellness initiatives

    Job Qualifications

    Education

    ·         Bachelor's degree is preferred

    Experience

    ·         Prior experience developing, implementing, and assuring compliance with safety& health policies and procedures as a Safety and Health professional is desired

    ·         Prior experience developing and implementing injury avoidance and accident prevention programs as a Safety and Health professional is desired

    ·         Prior experience and knowledgeable of accident prevention and investigation procedures as a Safety and Health professional is desired.

    ·         Previous experience providing safety & health support to a corporate support organization is preferred

    ·         Previous experience with delivering presentations to large group audiences is preferred

    ·         Must be highly motivated and possess strong self-initiative.

    The Camden Site currently has an opening for an Industrial Hygiene professional.  This role reports to the site’s Health and Safety Manager and provides site-wide IH related safety and health support.   

    This is a day-based assignment (generally Monday through Friday, 8-10 hour days), with work schedule requiring flexible hours as needed to meet business demands. 

    This position develops and implements management systems and provides oversight for work processes under applicable OSHA, SCDHEC, and INVISTA standards.  Major program areas include, but are not limited to: exposure assessment, new chemical approval / inventory management, respiratory protection, noise, radiation, HAZCOM, personal protective equipment, ergonomics, dust, lead-based paint, asbestos, product stewardship, IH-related employee training, etc.

    Responsibilities/Expectations:

    • Execute facility industrial hygiene plan with an emphasis on compliance with established regulations, corporate standards, and site procedures.
    • Coordinate / manage site programs including SDS (Safety Data Sheets), asbestos/ lead-based paint, radiation safety, hearing conservation, personal protective equipment, industrial hygiene, and other occupational health systems.
    • Provide routine safety and health services including: site auditing, employee training, and program development.
    • Develop / manage ongoing assessment plan and exposure monitoring   
    • Interpret regulations and standards and provide compliance / technical guidance
    • Develop and implement industrial hygiene compliance training programs  
    • Establish and communicate health and safety compliance expectations, metrics and performance results and effectiveness

    • Manage and maintain all IH-related records

    Necessary Attributes:
